John and Megan are from Ogallala but decided to have their ceremony and reception in Lincoln. They opted for the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, and if you live around here, you know the weather that day was unbelievably nice. Late November days in Lincoln can be downright nasty; two weeks earlier we were stuck with single-digit temperatures. But the day of the wedding? It was right around 75 degrees, with plenty of sun and a manageable breeze. If that's not a good sign for your marriage I don't know what is.
Wow, I am crazy far behind on blog posts and I'll be spending the next few weeks catching up. Here are a few from the party that was Jeff and Lacey's wedding out in Ord. They have one of the cutest kids (Aydin) I've seen in a while.
Carrie and Adam got married less than a year ago and didn't waste any time starting a family. Here are a few images from a newborn session with June, who is just now about a month old. Her red hair is simply amazing.
Here's Mallory, the brand-new baby girl who belongs to Rylie and Kellie. We set up at their home (which is filled with the wedding pictures I took!) and hung out for a while. Mallory is awfully sweet and she is very loved.
Derek and January are the first (and only) people I've eaten messy, delicious hot wings with during an engagement shoot. I'm happy to say that we've hung out several times since then, including this family session a couple of weeks ago. Now they have Corbin, who is hilariously cute.
I took pictures of these two this past winter, and mom wanted a few more closer to Claire's first birthday. Nick and Leah are such a nice couple and I'm glad that I met through Adam and Carrie last year.
Tyler and Sarah are getting hitched later this month. I met Sarah thanks to a group of people at Verizon Wireless -- I've shot something like 5 weddings from this one office, and every couple has been outstanding. Can't wait to see these two again for their big day.
I could wax poetic about Matthew for hours. He is truly one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet -- thoughtful, kind and wise in ways that defy his young age. He's the baby brother of one of my best college friends and it's been a ton of fun getting to know him over the years. His soon-to-be wife, Heather, is a lot like him. Can't wait to shoot their wedding this summer!
I was hired by a Lincoln family law firm (Kotik & McClure) to create some fun promotional images for their office. So we brought in the kids and had them act out a few courtroom scenes. As you can imagine, getting the three of them to cooperate was a bit challenging, but we did make some cute pictures.
We visited Iowa City to catch up with friends during March Madness. John and Jenny have one of the world's most photogenic kids...Nathan! Yes, he is named after yours truly. Check out a couple of quick shots I grabbed of the little guy. Also, you can see how dirty our puppy Tala got while playing in their backyard.
Derek and Jessie rolled the dice on their wedding date -- they went for a Saturday in January. It was predictably cold. But the wind -- holy Lord, the wind -- was completely and utterly insane. We had gusts of nearly 60MPH. There were hurricanes of leaves. The sky blackened with dust. Fortunately, there was no snow or ice, so everyone made it safely and we all had a great time.
I assembled a collection of some of my favorite wedding and portrait pictures from 2013. You can watch the slideshow at the link below. Thanks to everyone who shared slices of their important days with me and my camera. It was a crazy, fun year!
